A polite notice to recruiters - we know you’re only doing your job and you have targets to meet, but our recruitment process is unique and we don't require any outside help. This is a relatively small industry, so we don't want to waste your time or ours sending across candidates we've already seen or passed on.
We help eCommerce businesses drive more traffic, convert more sales and dominate their industry. But we also support the awesome people we work with, teach ourselves new skills and push ourselves to be better. We’re early on in our journey, but we’re realistic with what we can achieve and on track to building a successful eCom ecosystem.
Plus we work to live, not the other way around. So we stamp out the stress and don’t overload ourselves with lots of clients. And lighten the working weeks with team activities and outings (because colleagues can be friends too).

This is your time to shine. Show us who you are and what you can really do. We’ll read over your CV and cover letter and fire over any questions to get a better understanding of you.
If we like what we see on paper, we’ll invite you to a friendly chat on the phone. We’ll talk to you about how you approach your work, the challenges you’ve faced (and how you’ve tackled them) and why you want to work at Contrast. You’ll also be able to learn more about the role and Contrast as an agency. This will ultimately help us tailor the next stage of the interview to you.
This isn’t a grilling, just an informal interview at our studio to see if you’ll be a great fit. We’ll go into more depth about your previous work, your successes and what you’re looking to gain from Contrast. But we’ll also want to find out more about you as a person (not just an employee) to get a more well-rounded picture of you. Plus it’s the perfect chance for you to get to know us and ask any questions about the role.
To make sure you can walk the walk, you’ll complete a bespoke task that’s crafted around the role to see how you respond to a real life brief or challenge. In the past they’ve involved creating a short video, a creative campaign or a technical SEO audit. Afterwards you’ll be asked to present your findings and analyse them as if we’re the client. This is purely to see how you approach, execute and explain a task, which will help us make our final decision.
We won’t leave you hanging. If you’re successful, we’ll be in touch with an offer! And if you’re unsuccessful, we’ll give you feedback and any tips to help you in your job search. But don’t let it discourage you from applying again in the future.
