Mark Rofe joins Contrast as Head of Digital PR [+ Giveaway]

7 months ago by Elliott Davidson

When I started Contrast it was all about being different and standing out from the crowd, this is part of our DNA and hasn’t changed. So when I saw Mark Rofe’s Digital PR campaigns, whether that be for clients or himself, I couldn’t help but be amazed at what he can pull off.

Mark’s creativity has always cut through the noise of mundane repetitive and recycled campaigns. Instead, he actually brings something new and different to the table, making him and his work stand out.

Considering the success of most campaigns is dictated by the initial idea before the campaign is even launched, if the idea is bad, they’ll fall flat on their face and get no coverage. Thinking outside of the box, Mark’s ideas are always inventive and original, creating the ideal foundation for successful campaigns.

This can be seen through just a handful of the campaigns he’s worked on for himself. For example, his dating billboard campaign as seen below.

Through this cheap (~£400 for the billboard) yet effective campaign, he was able to secure 2,363 applications and a girlfriend - sorry, I meant coverage on the likes of the Telegraph, Independent, Fox News, and 175 other sites/publications.

Or the time he became the Lion Bar Influencer at World cup qualifier matches in 2021 and went viral over social media for his Lion bar t-shirt.

Finally, to starting a Christmas Tree eCommerce business (don’t get me started on why this is a bad idea - massive product, short sales window and seasonal etc) and taking a domain with no traffic and links to over 366 referring domains and 6 figures in revenue in just 3 seasons. Through this process, Mark was invited onto the likes of SKY News TV alongside the likes of the Port of Dover CEO, MD of the Road Haulage Association and a lecturer in supply chain management to talk about the supply chain issues. You can learn more about this here: christmastrees.co.uk case study.

Through the connection of each running eCommerce businesses and marketing them, Elliott and Mark started speaking and sharing insights with each other.

With this, I’m pleased to announce that Mark has joined Contrast as our Head of Digital PR.

Mark had to say “It's a privilege to join the talented team at Contrast and play a role in introducing Digital PR as a new offering. I have long been impressed by Contrast's unwavering commitment to delivering results for their clients. Their reputation as a small yet mighty ecommerce agency precedes them, and I am eager to leverage my passion and expertise to help take their services to the next level. I am thrilled to embark on this exciting new chapter with such a dynamic and innovative company."

Elliott had to say “With Mark's background as an eCommerce owner and operator, this is a perfect match of DNA and knowledge. I’m excited about the future of Contrast for our current and future clients, the creative campaigns we will end up running with Mark at the helm of the department, and how we will grow.”
